Stems and veins of the highest quality Sencha

  • INFORMATION

SENCHA KARIGANE is made from stems and veins of the highest quality, Ichibancha (first harvest) Sencha. Tea leaves are sorted during the processing process and make up only 5 to 10% of the tea. Karigane is less expensive than tea made entirely of leaves. Karigane is scarce available because the leaves used must be of top quality. That is why only a small amount of Karigane is produced every year. Karigane stems are rich in theanine and give the tea a sweet taste. The tea is grown in full sunlight and therefore contains more catechin. Sencha Karigane is a sweeter and less bitter tea than regular Sencha.
